BEHIND THE BRAND
Gruyec London is a handmade leather goods brand established in 2020 by designer and maker Iwona Krzynowek. A highly skilled artisan who blends the concepts of modern and traditional by crafting contemporary designs by using traditional craftsmanship.
Her attention to detail and her use of combining both analytical and experimental approaches to design ensures she produces flawless goods, distinguished by clean lines and refined construction. Iwona started her path as a designer after achieving her BA (Hons) Product Design and Development: Cordwainers at the prestigious London College of Fashion in 2014. After years of working as a freelancer, she took a chance to establish her leather goods brand and pursue her dreams.
All Gruyec London products are handmade of vegetable tanned leather in a South East London studio. The core of the brand is a unique personalisation, crafted using an old-fashioned molding technique known as plugging. Letters are covered with a fine layer of leather. While wet the leather is glued and molded around shapes creating this very special effect.
The greatest asset of the label is blending traditional with modern. The Tic Tuck Leveled Lock comes perfectly to this terms creating the brand’s signature feature.
We source our materials from London's leather suppliers. They are tanned in Belgium's and Italian tanneries. Our metal fittings are purchased from a trusted Italian supplier providing great finish and quality to our products.
